You may not be the preacher, or the musician, or a Bible teacher, or a ministry coordinator, but you are still an important part of the body of Christ, the church. When it comes to the work of Christ, there are many different positions, many different gifts. You may like to have people over to your home; that is a gift from God; use it for God. You may be able to mend garments or do mechanical work; that is a gift from God; use it for God. You may be smart with technology, or you may have a knowledge about history; that is a gift from God; use it for God. Maybe you have an ability to work with the youth or maybe you can provide rides for others; that is a gift from God; use it for God.
Just like the body has many different parts but is one body, so you are a part of the body of Christ and God has a place for you here. There are things that you can do, in ways that only you can do them, which no one else can do. Your personality and past experiences enable you to connect with certain people in a special way that others cannot. You might have more time and skill to write letters where others do not. You may have the resources and know-how to cook large dishes where others do not. You might like football, you may skate board, you may be interested in knitting or scrap booking or bicycling. You may work out at a gym, or walk your dog in the park, or frequent your favorite restaurant.
The places that you go and people that you meet are unique to you. No one else can fill your shoes. Your skills and abilities give you a unique opportunity to work for the Lord in a way that no one else can. You have a unique mission field and God has a place for you here.
